ACUD chooses three winners to design streets, squares in New Administrative Capital

The Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development (ACUD) has announced on Wednesday in press conference the results of a competition for engineering consultancies, to participate in the development of proposals and new ideas for the designs of squares and streets in the government, and the business districts of the New Administrative Capital.

Ayman Ashour dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, said that 52 competitors applied for the competition and produced 23 projects.

Ashour added that 13 projects were selected, and the jury selected three winners. The ACUD has allocated financial rewards for the first three winners and granted achievement certificates for the other10 projects.

For his part, Ahmed Zaki Abdeen, chairperson of the ACUD said, ” We welcome any innovative ideas and solutions to develop the new capital in all fields to serve this mega national project to be a model followed in designing other new cities.”

Abdeen pointed out that the ACUD aims to create a distinctive character in these neighbourhoods and reach the best creative proposals in the coming period.

He elaborated that the New Administrative Capital project is a pioneering national project and is a cultural leap in the history of modern urban Egypt. Besides, due to the ACUD’s interest to search for beautiful and harmonious designs, it launched the competition in order to design the New Administrative Capital’s squares and streets, to have an integrated project aligned with the spirit of the current decade, while expressing the identity of the administrative capital.
