Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has announced that the biggest dates farm in the world will be established in Egypt, with the target to plant 2.5m palms on an area of 40,000 acres.
Al-Sisi added on Saturday during the inauguration of the national greenhouses project of protected agriculture projects in the 0th of Ramadan city, that “all Egyptians will eat organic food,” noting that the price of organic products are not affordable for all citizens, but this will soon be changed.
“Whoever can afford organic food can buy it, but this will change soon,” Al-Sisi said.
Furthermore, Al-Sisi praised the inauguration of the national project of greenhouses, saying “We should be satisfied with what we achieved.” He also called on the project’s owners to continue in conducting training for young employees to ensure optimum performance.
Al-Sisi asserted that the military is just responsible for administering the project, but the actual employees are young Egyptian women and men.
The national greenhouse project, carried by the National Company for Protective Cultivations and the National Service Projects Organisation of the Egyptian military, aims to establish 7,100 greenhouses over the area of 34,000 acres.
It also aims at using greenhouses and modern cultivation techniques to increase agricultural production and rationalising water consumption.
Prime minister Mostafa Madbouly, the country’s ministers, and other top officials also attended the inauguration ceremony.
