Qatar’s beIN Sports announced on Tuesday it will not be able to provide its services in Egypt starting from Tuesday through the Cable Network Egypt (CNE), in a Tuesday statement.

“beIN Sports Group regrets that it is unable to provide its services on CNE as of 8 January 2019,” the group said on Twitter.

“Our viewers in Egypt can continue to enjoy beIN services on smartphones and other devices through the channel’s website.”

Minutes after the statement, the beIN broadcast on the Nilesat and the Qatari satellite, Suhail, stopped in Egypt.

The group justified a disagreement with the CNE over “commercial terms”.

In a related context, the officials of the Egyptian Football Federation said that Egypt, the hosts of the CAF African Cup of Nations, has the right to broadcast the tournament on local TV channels.
