The Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced that the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has accepted President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s invitation to visit Cairo soon.

This came during Madbouly’s visit to Berlin to attend the opening of the 2019 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship in the presence of Steinmeier.

During his visit, Madbouly met with representatives and senior officials of the German automaker Mercedes-Benz to discuss the company’s future plan in Egypt.

The company said that it aims to resume production in Egypt soon, and considers launching assembly lines of new models in the country, according to Markus Schafer, member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

On the other hand, Madbouly expressed Egypt’s desire to cooperate with the German company in manufacturing autonomous and electric vehicles.

The prime minister also held a meeting with representatives of German recycling companies in Berlin on Saturday, during which, the CEO of Germany’s largest municipal waste management company, Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe (BSR), explained the company’s waste collection and recycling process.

Additionally, Madbouly met with Olaf Scholz, the Federal Minister of Finance and Vice Chancellor, to discuss economic cooperation opportunities between the two countries, and in order to showcase the Egyptian economic reform programme’s results.
