The GSMA, the global trade body representing the mobile telephone industry, announced on Monday the final updates for MWC Barcelona, which was formerly known as the Mobile World Congress. The details include additional keynote speakers, the participating companies, the programmes, as well as the events. The MWC19 Barcelona is expected to attract more than 107,000 professionals from over 200 countries.

John Hoffman, the CEO of the GSMA, pointed out that the anticipated arrival of 5G adds more importance to this year’s event, as the industry convenes to showcase intelligent connectivity across new technologies in order to reach millions of people across the world.

“Over the four days of the MWC19 Barcelona, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from leaders who are driving innovation, and we look forward once again to welcome the mobile world to Barcelona,” Hoffman stated.

Aisha Bin Bishr, the director general of Smart Dubai, and Dieter Zetsche, the chairperson of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz, as well as Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, are among the several new keynote speakers in the sixth edition of the MWC, which will take place from 25-28 February.

MWC Barcelona is an immense event, which includes several conferences and other events, while one of them is titled ‘Four Years from Now (4YFN)’ which is considered one of the most influential start-up events platforms in the world. This year, the platform will focus on the themes of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, ‘Tech4Good’, and blockchain.

The GSMA Innovation City will also return to the MWC19, while placing a particular emphasis on the theme of ‘Intelligent Connectivity’, which is a mix between 5G, the internet of things, AI and big data, and how it will positively impact the lives of citizens and businesses around the world.

Furthermore, the MWC Barcelona will offer attendees focused topic tours of the exhibition, including a 5G and NFV tour, a mobile advertising and apps tour, as well as a cybersecurity tour. It recently confirmed that the event will witness programmes with several partnering technology firms and institutions, including the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Mobile World Scholar Challenge, and the Telecommunications Industry Association.
