Davos- Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Sahr Nasr signed an agreement with the global asset management firm Lazard on Wednesday, to promote investment opportunities in Egypt.
The agreement signing took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2019 and was witnessed by Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.
Madbouly said that agreement comes in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to increase foreign investments in Egypt(FDI).
Egypt is participating in this year’s WEF meeting with a large delegation, headed by the Prime Minister, and includes the Ministers of Industry and Trade, Tourism, Finance, and Investment
The delegation’s main purpose is to present Egypt’s investment opportunities in the local market and to boost FDI in the country.
Moreover, Nasr explained that the agreement aims to benefit from the international expertise in FDI promotion, noting that after studying a number of offers in this regard, was completed to suit the offer from Lazard.
She added that Egypt’s presence in the forum aims to convey the message that the country is ready to attract more investments after the comprehensive economic reforms adopted, paving the way to more private sector participation in the economy and in strategic sectors such as energy and renewable energy.
