The public prosecutor’s office released the mother of the child known as the “Balcony child” on Saturday, after she signed a pledge not to expose her children to any kind of violation or abuse again.

The mother was accused of negligence and endangering the life of her child by forcing him to jump from a window to a nearby balcony after he lost the keys of the apartment while he was playing in the street.

A video spread on social media showing a mother screaming at her 11-year-old child urging him to sneak into a nearby balcony of her apartment from the stair window after he lost the keys, amid the boy’s cries asking for help as he was going to fall twice, however she kept on forcing him to jump.

Noteworthy, the neighbours simply stood idly by and no one interfered to stop her and they were simply warning her, while she ignored them.

According to an interview with the mother of the child on DMC TV channel, she is a mother of four children, and surprisingly this was not the first time to force one of her sons sneak into the balcony, and her middle-son has done it before.

She also mentioned that she did not have enough money to bring someone to break the door and she did not have the intention to harm her child.

The Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly issued an order to provide the child with comprehensive psychological and social rehabilitation services, through a specialised institution under the ministry of solidarity.

Waly also stressed the need for an evaluation of the psychological state of the mother and the family’s social status, in order to protect them from any danger, in addition to conducting a social research to determine their economic and social condition.
