Hussein Mansi, the CEO of Lafarge Egypt, stated during a round table on Monday to Daily News Egypt that Lafarge Egypt invested about EGP 200m, implementing a number of projects to make use of the household wastes to be used as an alternative source of energy.

He pointed out that the capacity of alternative energies provided through the household wasted reached about 1,000 tonnes per day, with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes annually, saving for the company about 200,000 tonnes of coal annually.

Mansi explained that the company will negotiate with a number of investors to implement some projects in order to generate solar energy at its factory in Ain Sokhna in July, in conjunction with the state’s inclination toward freeing the energy price by the end of the current fiscal year.

Moreover, he said that there is a necessity for the government to issue the necessary legislation to stimulate the use of solar energy as an alternative source of energy during the coming period.

Lafarge Egypt, a member of LafargeHolcim, works in the construction materials industry. With its plant located in Ain Sokhna, the company provides products and solutions which are essential in creating the structures that shape our landscape today.
