The 11th Egyptian-Finnish Musical Bridge, a brainchild of the famous Finnish Pianist and Conductor, Ralf Gothoni, in cooperation with the Cairo Opera House, the Foreign Cultural Relations, and the Finnish embassy is back in Cairo from 17 to 21 March at the Cairo Opera House, according to a statement of the embassy of Finland to Egypt.
A team consisting of world-renowned maestros and performers will be participating in this event. It includes pianist and conductor Ralf Gothóni, violist Teemu Kupiainen, pianist Kristian Attila and Artistic Director of the Savonlinna Opera Festival, Jorma Silvasti, the statement noted.
The Finnish musical team will have workshops with young talented Egyptian musicians and singers, the statement said, adding that the Musical Bridge will include three concerts: Gala symphonic Concert and two other concerts with famous opera Arias and chamber music.
The Musical Bridge is about two weeks long with master classes and joint performances between virtuoso Egyptian and Finnish musicians and opera singers, mentioned the statement.
Musical Bridge aims to boost cultural relations and promote talented young Egyptian Musicians and singers from the Cairo Opera House, the statement clarified, noting that some of them are later invited to continue their studies at the Savonlinna International Music Academy and perform during the famous Savonlinna Opera Festival.
Additionally, Finnish photographer Päivi Arvonen will hold at the lobby of Cairo Opera House a parallel photo exhibition, entitled the Soul of the Forest, which highlights the beauty of untouched Finnish Nature.
The Soul of the forest exhibition was part of the official programme to celebrate the centenary of Finnish independence in 2017 when it was exhibited in Finnish embassies in Bangkok, Thailand and in Canberra, Australia.
