The Administrative Control Authority (ACA) referred on Monday three employees at Banha University Hospital to disciplinary committee for their alleged involvement in an elevator crash which resulted in the death of seven people and injured two others.
The employees included former director of the engineering department in the hospital, an electronic engineer, and a maintenance technician.
The initial investigation revealed that the employees did not conduct the regular maintenance of the elevator, which exposed the lives of citizens to danger and caused the fall of the elevator.
The elevator crashed due to the damage of the roping system because of negligence and poor maintenance, according to the investigation.
Earlier, the Ministry of Manpower received an urgent report from the Public Health and Safety Department of the hospital that stated that it was previously inspected by the competent administration in Qaliubiya.
