The development of Arish Port requires completing the first phase of the development of a 600m-long berth and a wave barrier with a length of 750m, reaching a 65% completion rate, an official at the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) revealed.
He added that the measures also include the annexation of the necessary land for future expansions of the port, the transfer of fishermen berths, the shabby line outside the port, the start the construction work, and the establishment of two battalions instead of the dilapidated ones.
The measures also include the removal of large quantities of sand and salt used for the eastern border, and the necessary maintenance of buildings and facilities, the main gate, the sewage station, and the fire line.
The port has a main road with a length of 1,200m, three berths with a total length of 389m. It includes a general cargo berth, 242m long and 7m deep, and a 122m high berth, a naval pier of 25m long and 7m deep.
DP World is planning to complete the second container terminal at the Ain Sokhna Port by March 2020.
The official added that the project achieves the addition of a 1,350m berth to the port and the addition of a capacity for containers estimated at 1.8m containers, after the completion of the construction of container terminal in the second basin, bringing the total capacity of containers in the port 2.9m containers.
He explained that China Harbor Engineering Company, is executing the project for the construction of the pier and the refining works. It is scheduled to be completed in August 2019. Rawad Engineering Company started implementing the infrastructure works of the yard which is due to be completed in March 2020.
