President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi issued a decree appointing Fakhry Elfiky as a member of the board of directors of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) replacing Hala Al-Saeed, for the remainder of the board’s term.
Elfiky has a 35-year international experience in the fields of economic and financial consulting, training, scientific research, and applied studies in Egypt, Arab countries, and the United States.
He held several positions in international financial institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington. He also worked in the field of consulting services at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Arab states, the National Economic Development Council, and research centres in Egypt.
He wrote many books and studies in economy and finance. He is a member of several scientific and economic societies in the United States, Austria, and Egypt.
Moreover, he has extensive knowledge of the implementation of economic and structural reform programmes, the design of mortgage finance systems, securitisation, investment fund management, mergers and acquisitions, and IPO management.
Elfiky holds master’s and PhD in finance economics from the Clark and Harvard universities, and a master’s degree in economics from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at the Cairo University.
