The first stage of the Egyptian Woman Health initiative started on Monday in nine governates for early detection including breast cancer, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, heart diseases, and maternal health.
The initiative was first launched in Alexandria, Port Said, Beheira, Fayoum, Assiut, Qaliubiya, Marsa Matruh, Damietta, and South Sinai. It targets 30 million women above the age of 18.
During the first day of the initiative, about 8,325 have carried out the detection according to the ministry of health and population.
All the medical tests are free of charges at public clinics, public and university hospitals, and the clinic centres related to the civil society with around 2,500 female physicians.
The initiative, which will be applied in three stages, came under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to provide Egyptian women with better medical services as part of “100 million healthy lives” initiative.
According to a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) which was published on the International Women’s Day, the number of females in Egypt reached 47.5 million compared to 50.5 million males in January 2019.
