The Minister of Education, Tarek Shawky, said on Sunday that the success percentage in secondary school exams this year is 78.6%, and that 36% of the students got 90% or more.
During a press conference to announce the details of the results of the secondary school exams and the top names in each class of students, the minister pointed out that 1,912 cases of cheating were monitored during the exams this year.
He stressed that the ministry does not tolerate any attempt to “cheat or disrupt the system during exams.”
Shawky offered gratitude to the ministry of interior for securing the exams and all participants in the process.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Council for Private Universities adopted, on Sunday, the rules and regulations governing the system of applying for private faculties for the academic year 2018 – 2019, in accordance with the results of the secondary schools’ exams.
According to the council, the first phase will start on July 29 until August 8, and the second phase will start on August 8 until the end of August.
The council announced that the minimum for admission for Egyptian students is 95% for the faculty of medicine, 90% for faculties of dentistry, pharmacy, and naturopathy, 80% for faculty of engineering, and 70% for faculties of applied sciences and applied medical sciences.
