The Swiss Club Cairo (SCC) is hosting a celebration for the Swiss National Day on Thursday, Club Manager, Alvin J Furrer, told Daily News Egypt, adding that ambassador of Switzerland to Egypt, Paul Garnier, will be attending.
“We shall have representatives from the Swiss Egyptian Business Association (SEBA) and the Organisation of Swiss Abroad, as well as various Swiss companies based here in Egypt, notably Mövenpick, Swiss Inn Hotels and Resorts, Hero, Nestle etc,” Furrer stated.
There will be video presentations featuring the annual speech by Swiss President, Ueli Maurer and other scenic views of Switzerland, Furrer added, noting, “children will be well looked after as we shall have various large toys and a children’s face-painting booth.”
There will also be a very interesting Swiss-Egyptian organisation that works as a charity making creative products using re-cycled waste, and another group who are launching an arts and crafts workshop, Furrer concluded.
The SCC–previously known as The Swiss House or The Swiss Home–is a perfect hideaway from all the hustle of Cairo’s busy streets and lifestyle. With a history dating back to the 19th century and with its unique atmosphere and architecture, the SCC has always been a popular hangout for expats and locals alike, according to the SCC’s website.
