Egypt’s Ministry of Transportation signed a contract with Bombardier Transportation on Monday to build two monorails, linking the Sixth of October City with Giza, and Nasr City with the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
“I am delighted that the UK is partnering with Egypt to support its development in this vital sector. Bombardier Transportation, a British company with Canadian roots, will bring its latest technology to build a state-of-the-art monorail. This mega-project will offer job opportunities, and support Egypt’s plan to modernise public transportation for all Egyptians,” British ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams said.
Bombardier was selected to establish a €3bn monorail project in Egypt in May. Bombardier will deliver the project in partnership with two Egyptian companies Orascom Construction and the Arab Contractors.
