Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC) announced on Sunday the launch of a new media centre in the Downtown Cairo area to serve all foreign media and correspondents.
According to the announcement, many centre-affiliated studios are located in three areas in and around Cairo’s Downtown, namely, Agouza, Garden City and Maspero.
The statement indicates that such studios would be used for various media purposes, adding that the studios are equipped to provide all production services needed.
The new 5-storey production centre is equipped with state-of-the-art engineering tools to provide premium media services for various news channels. The centre provides direct satellite communication, integrated imaging and engineering with HD and SD cameras, fixed and mobile editing units, and multi-system tape modules.
EMPC chairman Osama Heikal said the usage of Live View transmission units is coordinated with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).
He explained that the aim of the new media centres is to facilitate the media work for foreign channels inside Egypt legally and affirmed his keenness in resolving any problems faced by foreign channels domestically.
Head of State Information Service (SIS) Diaa Rashwan said the use of LifeView devices is not prohibited, and the law stipulates that it is necessary to organize his entry into the country or its rent with the competent authorities.
He pointed out that professional rules must be observed during the news follow-up, and any problems related to the “LifeView” are being facilitated and that the Media Production City is an Egyptian joint stock company operating in the free zones system, and the news work within the city is within the framework of Egyptian law.
