Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received Guinea’s Foreign Minister Mamadi Touré on Tuesday in Cairo, in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, according to a presidency statement.
Al-Sisi hailed the signing of several agreements between Egypt and Guinea in the fields of electricity, environment, and marine resources. These agreements came as part of the sixth round of the Egyptian-Guinean joint committee which was held on 1-3 September.
The committee intended to bolster bilateral cooperation and to strengthen political and economic relations.
During the meeting, Touré praised Egypt’s support of Guinea, represented in exchanging expertise and providing training programmes in security, diplomatic, agriculture, health, media, and defence sectors.
The meeting also addressed recent developments in the African arena, as Al-Sisi asserted Egypt’s keenness on maintaining security and stability in the continent, in particular under its presidency of the African Union.
Separately, Shoukry met with Touré, as they discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation over counterterrorism and training programmes in the security sector.
Both officials then held a joint press conference where they pledged to increase cooperation in various fields, including archaeology and environment.
They also reviewed joint efforts aimed to support African integration to achieve the aspirations of African peoples.
