E-Finance, which is operating the Egyptian government financial network, has launched a special platform to support the agricultural sector, in cooperation with the Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE).

This platform recognises the ABE’s role in the digital transformation in Egypt, Chairperson of the ABE Elsayed Elkosayer said.

“We were keen from the beginning to develop the payment system and electronic collection in the bank to contribute strongly to the digital transformation of the agricultural sector, and expand its circle of integration which appears in the macroeconomic indicators,” he said.

Elkosayer pointed out that the ABE was the first to participate in the technical studies on the establishment of the digital agricultural platform, where the bank suggested introducing a new business model for the agricultural sector in Egypt using technology to finance agricultural value chains.

He added that the bank continues to conduct studies and take all required procedures to complete the launching of the platform.
