A high-level Korean business delegation is visiting Egypt from 8 to 10 October 2019, Yeocheol Yoon, the South Korean ambassador in Cairo, told Daily News Egypt on Monday. On the sidelines of the event that the embassy organized, a research study competition on “Ways to Develop the Egyptian-Korean relations” will be announced.
About 50 representatives from 20 Korean companies are visiting Egypt to discuss more opportunities for joint economic cooperation, the ambassador noted, adding that the delegation will attend a business forum and business to business meetings (B2B).
The Korean companies are well represented in the Egyptian market through major companies including Samsung, LG and others, the ambassador asserted.
The Korea-Egypt technological College will be inaugurated on first October 2019, the ambassador mentioned, noting that the latest period witnessed an acceleration of the cooperation pace with several positive developments.
The college is located in Beni Suef and is expected to play a key role in providing the Egyptian market with skilled youth, the ambassador said, noting that there is a good demand of Egyptians to join the college.
The general assembly of the Egypt-Korea Friendship Association (EKFA), will meet in December 2019 to elect its board and attract new members, the ambassador mentioned, asserting the importance of the EKFA to promote stronger Egyptian-Korean relations.
Furthermore, launching of the research competition for the third year in a row is an obvious sign of the Korean Embassy’s keenness on promoting the cooperation with Egypt, Alaa Fahmy, president of the EKFA, said.
EKFA’s 2019 competition presents financial rewards to the winners, Fahmy said, noting, “We are in close discussions with the Korean side to allocate scholarships or visits to Korea for next year’s competition winners.”
