The Ministry of Tourism stated that the outcome of the new aviation incentive programme was great, achieving about 22,300 flights with a total of about 3.85 million tourists over the first ten months since its launch.
The new programme was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Ministry of Aviation, on 1 November 2018 and it is scheduled to end on 20 April 2020.
The new aviation incentive is based on several criteria, including non-discrimination between charter and regular aviation, the distinction of the governorates or destinations that receive high incoming tourists in the recent period, in addition to simplifying all the procedures for the airlines and the tourists.
Meanwhile, the ministry revealed in a report that the previous aviation incentive programme that was adopted by Egypt in 2017-2018, received about 3.2 million tourists to Egypt through about 17,771 regular and charter flights.
The ministry pointed out to that the aviation incentive programmes are financed based on the resources of the tourism fund.
Notably, the Ministry of Tourism has established an aviation incentive unit to manage this file, in an effort to modify the incentive mechanisms in future programmes based on the analysis of the current data on tourist movement and the current status of Egyptian destinations.
The unit represents a digital database and information that contributes to the formulation and construction of a new incentive programme.
The ministry declared that it has succeeded in ending all entitlements of foreign companies for the previous flight incentive programmes, which had been suspended earlier, in an effort to restore the credibility of the Ministry of Tourism globally.
