The death toll of Israeli attacks on Gaza increased to 23 Palestinians, while at least 69 others were injured, Palestinian local media reported on Wednesday.

Unleashing a new spiral of violence, Israel has launched air strikes on Tuesday targeting Baha Abu Al-Atta, a top commander from the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine.

Meanwhile, Israeli military claimed that about 220 rockets were fired into Israel, noting that the Iron Dome intercepted 90% of them.

Responding to the rockets, Israel launched dozens of air raids on Gaza. The raids killed 10 Palestinians on Tuesday, and more 13 on Wednesday, in addition to 69 Palestinians were wounded during the two-day strikes, said the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Islamic Jihad on Wednesday that Israel is prepared to keep bombarding the group as long as rocket fire continues, Israeli local media reported.

“They understand we will continue to hit them with no mercy. They have one choice, either stop these attacks or suffer more and more blows. It’s their choice,” Netanyahu told a special cabinet meeting.

Moreover, a diplomatic source told Reuters that the United Nations Middle East envoy was on his way to Cairo to begin mediation efforts.
