President of German Parliament Wolfgang Schaeuble received Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday at the Bundestag headquarters, during the latter’s official visit to Germany to participate in the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) meetings.
Al-Sisi also met with a delegation from the German Security and Defence Industry (BDSV) in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Military Production, Mohamed El Assar, and Chairperson of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Abdel Moneim Al-Taras, according to Egypt’s presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Rady stated that the President hailed the great development witnessed in the relations between Egypt and Germany in recent years, stressing Egypt’s interest in further deepening cooperation in various fields in a way that exploit the available opportunities in both sides, mainly in security and military fields.
In this context, Al-Sisi stressed the need to take into account the great challenges witnessed in the region due to the spread of terrorism and armed organisations.
He added that the use of the latest technological systems in the field of security and defence equipment is a strategic approach that Egypt is seeking to maintain, to ensure the security of its territory and people, which is reflected on the stability of the entire region, including the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the German side appreciated Egypt’s role in strengthening the stability and security in the region, as well as its prominent role in combating terrorism, expressing their keenness to boost their cooperation with Egypt in the field of security and defence industries.
