The Korea International Cooperation Agency’s (KOICA) Egypt office discussed with the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation (MIIC) and the National Council for Women (NCW) the future projects for Egyptian women’s economic empowerment, during a workshop on “Better Partnership for Development: Women’s Economic Empowerment” held on Sunday.
Sharing the successful cooperation stories and projects between KOICA and its Egyptian counterparts, participants expanded the understanding for further cooperation and exchanged the ideas for potential schemes and cooperation mechanism for women development.
“Along with the traditional cooperation for vocational training and education and government efficiency, KOICA hopes to contribute to women development in Egypt, especially focusing on economic empowerment.” Moon Byoung-Jun, the KOICA deputy chief of mission, said.
MIIC, NCW, and KOICA have decided to elaborate the cooperation agenda based on the results of the workshop.
KOICA is South Korea’s grant and technical cooperation agency, aiming to achieve global social values through mutual exchanges between South Korea and developing countries.
With more than 20-year experience in Egypt, KOICA has implemented 21 projects with estimated cost of $61.6m until 2018.
