Water companies in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, and Alexandria showed great interest in the smart meter the company presented during the Cairo Information and Communications Technology (ICT) 2019 exhibition.
Chairperson of Techno Media Group Mohamed Owaida said in a press statement that he met with water company officials from all governorates to discuss how a smart meter can help provide water and rationalise consumption through a tailored computer programme in cooperation with Orange Lab.
He said that the programme will run the meter, having access to a backend that can discover the location of, for example, a water leak and send an alarm to its corresponding console within one minute.
Owaida stated that the officials of the water companies made sure of their ability to follow the revenue system and the problems of subscribers from their offices, moment by moment, using the smart meter invented by the company.
He added that the technology used in it is able to detect any theft of water momentarily and send an alert to the control unit. It also ensures that the value of water consumption is collected in advance.
He said that the company pays special attention to the smart meter in the water field because of Egypt’s water poverty and the challenge of the Renaissance Dam.
Technomedia Group, founded in 1992, is one of the most important companies working in the measurement and control technology. The company cooperates with major companies around the world in this field such as Schlumberger, Atron, Siemens, Halma, and Orange.
