Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) Amr Talaat said the ministry is preparing a special strategy to train students from the colleges of computers, technology, and electronic engineering, adding that their number exceeds about 50,000 students in various governorates.
Talaat revealed that the ministry aims to develop serious training programmes for students in the third and fourth grades in the fields of computers, communications, and technology, as well as several years after university graduation, including stages of recruitment, indicating that the ministry needs to provide approximately 400,000 training opportunities for these students and alumni.
The minister added that these opportunities may increase to 1.5m training opportunities with the trend of a large number of university youth changing their work fields to join the communications and information technology job market.
This came on the side-lines of the initiative to qualify recruits in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence established in the Information Technology Institute of the Ministry of Communications, and the opening of the Internet of Things (IoT) Academy.
For her part, Heba Saleh, director of the Institute of Information Technology (ITI) affiliated to the Ministry of Communications, said that the Internet of Things Academy, which was opened today, aims to train 150 individuals annually and includes training grants, in addition to specialised and professional training besides training recruits.
Heba added that the academy supports the training of programmers, students, startups, and decision makers, explaining that it is made available remotely through the “Skill Tech” platform.
The laboratory specialises in developing smart city solutions in order to improve the quality of life, use, development, testing, study, and conduct research on the Internet of Things, acting as an open platform for developing various vertical applications dedicated to other areas of research. The establishment of the lab comes with funding from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
