President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi discussed with Minister of State for Information Osama Heikal the possible ways to develop local media in the coming period, stressing the necessity to adhere to professional standards.
The meeting, held on Sunday in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madboly, was the first for Heikal since he was appointed in his new position last month.
The president directed Heikal to adopt a disciplined framework in the national media to keep pace with the great global development in this field, and to ward off the danger of rumours and fake news on the society.
The media plays a great role in raising public awareness of the latest national and international developments.
He also demanded the local media to focus on youth, in line with the state’s efforts to build powerful young generations.
Heikal presented his plan to develop local media in a way that ensures more openness to all political forces and spectra, so that the Egyptian media can retain its role locally and regionally.
