Egypt’s prime minister, Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated the 51st Cairo International Book Fair at Egypt International Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday.
Madbouly roamed the fair which runs until 4 February under the theme of “Egypt, Africa: the Diversity Culture.” During his tour, he visited the section dedicated to the Ministry of Defence, and Senegal the Guest of Honour. The 51st edition of the Cairo International Book Fair selected Gamal Hamdan as the main figure.
900 publishing houses participate at this year’s edition, an increase of 153 additional publishers than last year showcasing their books over 808 sections. The 51st edition witnessed the participation of 38 countries and 925 scheduled cultural activities.
The Ministry of Transportation announced the transportation lines provided for visitors from across the city. The book fair provides 98 bus lines from most areas of Cairo and Giza, with average tickets EGP 6.
The fair ticket prices increased to EGP 5 in this year’s edition.
The 51st year’s edition introduced fair’s ambassadors to promote and raise the world’s attention to the fair. This year’s ambassadors are Zahi Hawwas, prominent actress Samiha Ayoub, famed football player Mahmoud Trézéguet, and the internationally accredited abstract artist Ahmed Moustafa.
