Egypt combats terrorist attack in Sinai, kills 10 terrorists

Egyptian Armed Forces spokesperson Tamer al Refaei announced Sunday that the armed forces countered a terrorist attack against a security checkpoint in North Sinai, killing 10 terrorists.

Due to fire exchange with the terrorists, the Egyptian forces managed to kill 10 of them and destroyed a four-wheel-drive vehicle, which was used in the attack.

However, seven armed forces’ soldiers and officers were injured and martyred in the incident. He said that the security forces were combing the area and cashing the terrorist elements to exterminate them.

He asserted that the Egyptian military forces will keep their efforts to eradicate terrorism in Egypt.

The military forces launched a large counter-terrorism campaign “comprehensive operation − Sinai 2018,” following the deadly attack of Al-Rawda mosque which left 305 people dead and at least 128 wounded.

The campaign, which was initiated in 9 February 2018, was against Islamist terrorist elements in addition to countering other criminal activities which threaten the national security and stability, in northern and central Sinai and parts of the Nile Delta.
