Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced on Sunday preparations of second edition of Global Forum for Higher Education and Scientific Research (GFHS2020) under the theme Future in Action.
The forum will be held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, from 2 to 4 April 2020 in the New Administrative Capital.
During a press conference, Abdel Ghaffar said that one of the main goals of the forum is to monitor and evaluate the needs of the fresh graduates to set an approach for preparing graduates for the labour market in their specialties. It also aims at partnering youth with the private sector.
The minister mentioned holding the first Medical Education Summit (MES) 2020 on the sidelines of the forum, in which a number of Egyptian medical scientists abroad will be invited. High profile figures such as Dr. Magdi Yacoub, cardiothoracic surgeon, Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and number of higher education ministers will be present at the forum.
The medical summit includes more than 30 speakers representing healthcare, higher education, and international organisations and associations who will discuss future trends and practices in medical education.
This year’s edition will not only discuss these challenges, but also propose innovative solutions. This year will also make youth a priority, putting them in the forefront to voice their challenges and propose their innovative ideas. The forum will address the overarching issue of preparing youth for the job market by ways of integrating business-ready models into higher education systems.
The discussions in the forum will be geared toward bridging the gaps between higher education systems and future workforce dynamics in different fronts on a local, regional, and global level induced by evolving dynamics of the fourth industrial revolution. This has been an area of great priority for the Egyptian higher education in its attempt to align itself with Egypt Vision 2030.
The forum is expecting to receive more than 100 speakers that represents influencers and practitioners from higher education, scientific research, innovation, government, business, industry, philanthropy, youth, students, and media. As of now, there are more than 17,000 participants coming from 72 countries.
An exhibition hosting more than 60 persons will be featured in the forum, representing private, public, and international universities in addition to international cooperation specialised in providing technological and innovative solutions for education, employability, and other related fields.
