Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture Sayed El Kosayer witnessed signing a cooperation protocol between the Ministry and Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE) to provide technical and financial support to poultry farmers and milk collection centres.
The protocol was signed by Alaa Farouk Zaky, Chairperson of the bank and Moustafa El Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, Fisheries and Poultry Affairs.
El Kosayer said that the protocol aims to raise the efficiency of poultry wards for young breeders, switching from the open breeding system to a closed breeding system. ”This will reduce operating expenses, improve the production performance of breeding birds, maximise land utilisation. Thus, increasing production and the economic return from the poultry industry.”
He added that work will be done to raise the efficiency and development of milk collection centres with soft loans under the Central Bank of Egypt small enterprises initiative.
For his part, El Sayyad said that milk collection centres serve as a marketing outlet for small dairy producers. He noted that the protocol aims to ensure and maintain the marketing of their dairy products at fair prices throughout the year. It also maintains access to high-quality milk following global health standards and controls, especially that Egypt is self-sufficient in fresh liquid milk, and is a dairy products exporter.
