Russian nuclear corporation, Rosatom, is operating normally despite challenges related to the coronavirus outbreak, says the corpoartion’s Director General, Alexey Likhachev.
The company has taken intensive precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus at all of its power stations across Russia. The steps include conducting periodic health checks of employees and enabling remote work for the largest possible number of workers, to keep business running while maintaining social distancing.
Rosatom is also providing all necessary protective supplies and constantly sterilises affiliated buildings, while restricting business travel in cooperation with the relevant government agencies in its areas of work.
Likhachev added that the preventive measures taken by the company are in line with the global precautions by governments and health authorities in the coronavirus-hit countries in which the company operates.
He noted that Rosatom is ready to intensify its preventive measures against the spread of the virus, including imposing quarantine protocols if requested to by the countries in which the company operates.
Egypt, in cooperation with Rosatom, is building a 4.8GW nuclear power plant in the Dabaa region of the North Coast, targeting an experimental operation of the plant’s first reactor by 2026.
