The Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) announced its partnership with Helwan University to produce 25,000 medical masks, starting this Thursday.
Mohamed El Sewedy, FEI Chairperson, said the federation is encouraging companies to cooperate with Helwan University to provide assistance to Egypt’s medical system. This can be undertaken by providing personal protection requirements for healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and laboratory staff.
He disclosed that 1,500 pieces of each item have already been produced on an experimental basis. El Sewedy noted that cooperation comes as a step towards adding productive capacities to the medical supplies sector, securing Egypt’s needs by exploiting the available resources.
El Sewedy added that Helwan University’s Faculties of Home Economics and Applied Arts, in coordination with the Faculty of Medicine, have begun producing the three-layered protective masks. This is alongside the production of medical jaws, head covers and medical shoe covers, which will be supplied as a corporate social responsibility by Makhlouf Group. The equipment is being produced within the faculties’ own production units.
