The ambassadors of Italy, UK, and Mexico have expressed their countries’ appreciation for Egypt’s support and efforts in repatriating their stranded citizens. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, working alongside the concerned authorities, stepped in to assist tourists from those countries to return home after the March suspension of flights due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Egyptian authorities helped in arranging several flights as part of efforts to repatriate foreigners in the country. The flight suspension was enforced at all airports in Egypt, as part of state efforts to control the further spread of the coronavirus.
British Ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams expressed his country’s appreciation for the support from the relevant authorities, including the Tourism Ministry, in helping repatriate over 13,000 British tourists stranded in Egypt.
Italian Ambassador to Egypt Giampaolo Cantini also thanked Egyptian authorities for their cooperation and assistance in repatriating 3,806 Italian citizens stranded in the country.
Mexico’s ambassador to Cairo Jose Octavio Tripp expressed his gratitude on behalf of his country for Egypt’s organised facilitation of repatriating Mexican citizens after the suspension of flights.
