The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) has prepared a guide to help workers in the sector protect themselves from the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry and MSMEDA Chairperson, said the guide includes various preventive programmes suitable for all smaller sized enterprises. It is based on their nature (whether it is industrial, agricultural, or commercial) and the proportionate means of protection for workers.
The guidance comes with the aim of helping project owners apply these measures to combat the coronavirus and limit its spread within their projects.
Gamea said the agency will electronically send these preventive programmes to all its clients, whilst also being distributed in print to all new customers who are completing the procedures for their project funding. The programmes are also available to all small project owners on the agency’s website, www.msmeda.org.eg.
Gamea called upon small enterprise owners to continue to fully commit to these preventive measures to help maintain their health and that of their employees. She noted that the coronavirus’ emergence and spread in any enterprise will be a risk to employee health, and will lead to project closures and economic losses to owners.
