Elsewedy Technology, a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric Company, has been awarded a five-year contract to supply technological infrastructure solutions to Tanzania’s Rufiji Dam.
Ayman Farouk, head of sales and development at Elsewedy Technology, said on Saturday that state-owned Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) has selected the company to install the electro-mechanical equipment at the dam’s hydroelectric power plant. He added that it would be a strategic project to generate electricity in across East Africa.
The project’s first phase will be completed by the end of 2020. The second phase will see infrastructure needed for the management and linkage of various sites in the project supplied. The project’s third phase will see telephone lines installed, alongside electricity and data networks.
