Roughly 17 coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have been confirmed at the new Al-Qasr Al-Eini Hospital, according to Faculty of Medicine Dean at Cairo University, Hala Salah Eldin.
In a media statement on Saturday, Salah Eldin said three of the infections were nurses with the rest of the cases among administrative workers. She added that no infections were recorded among the patients at the hospital, stressing that none of the reported cases had direct contact with the hospital’s patients. The source of the infection at the hospital was unidentified.
Salah Eldin also said that all cases were sent to the isolation hospital once their coronavirus test results came back positive over the past two weeks.
Salah Eldin stressed that no coronavirus cases had been reported at the old Al-Qasr Al-Eini Hospital.
Hesham Al-Sakit, the Faculty of Medicine’s Deputy Dean, who had been infected with the virus, is also a deputy for environmental affairs and social service, yet has had no contact with the hospitals.
