Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker has honoured several leaders of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), mainly the company’s Chairperson Sabah Meshaly, for completing the first phase of the power interconnection project with Sudan.
Meshaly expressed her appreciation for the honouring, adding that it would encourage workers’ sense of achievement in the sector.
She thanked Minister Shaker for his encouragement to all employees, which eventually serves the electricity sector to provide a better service to citizens.
The Minister of Electricity has announced earlier that the first phase of the Egypt-Sudan power interconnection was officially launched with a capacity of 60MW from the project’s total capacity of 300MW.
Trial operation of the project has started about a month and a half ago, and both sides have addressed all technical problems that emerged during this period. Preparation is underway for gradual operation of the project’s remaining phases.
