Mawasem, a startup specialising in producing and selling honey, has launched an electronic platform selling its products which consumers can use to protect themselves against the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The company has launched a range of honey products, selling for up to EGP 699, that strengthen the immunity, and which they say helps prevent the coronavirus.
Hossam Moustafa, the company’s marketing director, told Daily News Egypt that the company is focusing on selling honey that is not widely available in the Egyptian market.
He explained that honey is known to strengthen the immunity, which is the first line of defence against illnesses such as the coronavirus.
He stressed that Mawasem’s website is has seen high traffic, with as many as 100,000 visitors per month visiting the site. This has occurred particularly following the virus’ spread and the government imposed curfews, which has driven consumers to purchase online. He expects the number of visitors to increase by the end of this year.
Moustafa added that the company has over 20 years of experience in the local market, with prices for mountain and royal honey ranging from EGP 140 to EGP 13,000, depending on the type and quantity.
