The number of confirmed worldwide infections of the coronavirus (COVID-19) passed the 4 million mark on Saturday, to reach 4,029,145. A total of 276,473 deaths and 1,394,259 recoveries have been recorded since the virus first appeared in December 2019 in China, according to the Worldometers website.
The total infections in the US now stands at 1,322,163, with 78,616 fatalities. Spain followed in second place, with the total number of confirmed cases standing at 260,117 and 26,299 fatalities.
Italy stands in third place with a total of 217,185 infections and 30,201 fatalities, while UK’s total number of infections reached 211,364 and 31,241 fatalities.
Meanwhile, China’s total cases stand at 82,887, and 4,633 fatalities. Turkey’s total confirmed cases stand at 135,569 with 3,689 deaths, while Iran’s total number of confirmed cases now stands at 104,691, and 6,541 deaths.
In Africa, South Africa has a total of 8,895 total confirmed cases and 178 deaths, followed by Egypt with total infections standing at 8,476 and 503 deaths. Morocco followed with the total number of infections standing at 5,711 and 186 fatalities.
