Lafarge Egypt has joined forces with the Egyptian Food Bank and the Egyptian Cure Bank to subsidise irregular daily workers and enhance medical services for coronavirus (COVID-19) patients.
The two initiatives form part of Lafarge Egypt’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
“In this unsettling time, our first and foremost priority remains the health and safety of our employees, customers, service partners and the communities we form a part of,” said Solomon Baumgartner Aviles, CEO of Lafarge Egypt, adding, “We want to ensure that we are complying with all government directives to help stop the spread of the virus, ease the suffering and bring about an end to it as quickly as possible.”
Aviles also said that the company’s responsibility and sustainability approach uses Lafarge’s presence and resources in Egypt to provide solutions that create shared value with society.
The first programme Lafarge Egypt is running is with the Egyptian Cure Bank, where the former is contributing with support for irregular daily workers in the informal sectors. Lafarge Egypt is providing 2,000 food boxes for temporary worker’s families in Qaliubiya governorate.
The second initiative is with the Egyptian Cure Bank, meeting the increasing demand on medical ventilators in the light of global shortage by the reckon, maintenance & modernisation of 460 ventilator devices in public hospitals.
