Egypt’s Al Ahly are looking to add to its ranks of top notch players in the coming season, with work underway as the club scouts for the talent.
The club believes that getting rid of surplus players is no less important than the new signings. Al Ahly’s Swiss coach René Weiler has decided to remove five players from the squad soon, mainly Saleh Gomaaa. The Al Ahly coach had asked the club’s President Mahmoud Al Khatib to release the player a while ago, although no offers were received.
The Moroccan striker Walid Azzaro is also on the list having moved to a Saudi club on loan recently.
Weiler will also sell Geraldo, along with Ahmed El Sheikh who has not shown a significant performance whilst at the team. The coach has also refused to bring back Hussein El Sayed, who has been on loan to Tunisian CS Sfaxien, having asked for him to either remain on loan or sell him.
The club has largely settled on new players to bring in when the summer transfer window opens. Weiler has also informed Al Ahly’s planning committee of the return of loaned players at the end of the current season.
Al Ahly’s administration has decided to bring back left winger Mohamed Sherif, who has starred whilst on loan with Enppi SC in the recent period. He will certainly find a role to fill, especially if Ramadan Sobhy leaves after the end of his loan contract.
Weiler has also asked for urgent support in the winger position, and Sherif’s return would be a vital asset for the club in filling the position.
Al Ahly has also targeted to sign Smouha’s Mohamed Abdel Moniem who has also presented a good performance with this club recently.
