Brazilian midfielder Ricardo Alves Fernandes, also known as Ricardinho, who played briefly in the Egyptian Premier League for Zamalek FC, left the club after only six games. Despite his fairly minimal number of appearances, he remains on the minds of Zamalek fans, especially after his dispute with Gamal Hamza.
Daily News Egypt interviewed the player to talk about his experience in Zamalek, and his current post after his 2012 retirement.
What are you doing now after retirement?
I now work at a football academy in Vietnam with my partner and friend Roberto Carlos.
Can you describe for us your experience with Zamalek?
My experience with Zamalek was good, but I did not find any technical support at that time to help me develop my capabilities. It was an amazing experience, especially with the fans, and with a number of wonderful players who were playing with Zamalek at the time.
Can you briefly tell us about your dispute with Gamal Hamza?
Certainly, I remember it well. He lost the ball on the field, so I complained to him because he did not pass it to me. After the end of the first half, he insulted me and my mother. I was shocked.
Why did you leave Zamalek?
I left Zamalek due to the many crises at the club at that time.
Has your crisis ended with Zamalek?
My dues were repaid, but an employee in Zamalek took a percentage of my rights.

The employee promised me to help get my rights, and I will talk about it in the press soon.
Do you have friends in Egypt now?
I have no friends in Egypt since my departure.
What does Zamalek represent to you?
It represents a good memory and many wonderful things. I sometimes follow what is going on with the club.
