Parliament will resume work as normal on Sunday, despite the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, parliamentary speaker Ali Abdel Aal announced on Wednesday night.
Parliament will take final decisions on some bills, including amendments to Law 93/2000 on the central depository and registry, in addition to amendments to the Railway Authority Law.
It will also discuss bills regulating parking lots, health precautions relating to contagious diseases, and amendments to the Police Authority Law.
As part of the state’s ongoing precautionary measures against the coronavirus, free face masks will be distributed to all Members of Parliament (MPs), employees, and parliamentary reporters during sessions.
All employees and workers inside the House of Representatives will also be required to wear face masks as part of the precautionary measures.
Abdel Aal praised the efforts that have been exerted in fighting the coronavirus, and to stimulate the economy. He added that Parliament has allocated EGP 25m in donations to contain the coronavirus.
