President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed on Sunday for the tax system’s expanded mechanisation to establish accurate databases that will ease the governance and preservation of state resources.
President Al-Sisi’s direction came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait.
Al-Sisi followed up on Ministry of Finance efforts in developing the tax system, involving settling tax disputes with financiers, and applying a nationwide electronic collection mechanism.
He also directed for continued efforts to settle all running tax disputes to preserve the state’s resources for the public good, in addition to strengthening relationships of trust with financiers.
During the meeting, Maait reviewed the amended tax system, which includes simplified procedures, building databases, and automating payment and collection procedures. This comes in addition to updating the Egyptian Tax Authority’s organisational structure, and developing legislation and laws related to taxation.
Maait presented the measures to be taken by the government to combat the economic repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.
