Google’s philanthropic arm, Google.org, will provide a grant to the Egyptian Food Bank (EFB), supplying over 21,000 boxes of foodstuff to families of day labourers impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The EFB is partnering up with 5,000 NGOs in the 27 governorates where the supplies will be distributed, to reach as many affected labourers as possible. Additionally, the EFB recently launched an online portal to facilitate registration for the labourers-in-need, allowing them to enrol themselves into a scheduled support system.

CEO of EFB, Mohsen Sarhan, expressed his sincere dedication to the project, saying “The grant provided by Google.org will not go unnoticed. The EFB is constantly working hard on growing its database of affected families, and we are doing everything we can in order to collect the biggest possible number of people that we can help.”

Sarhan added, “Every effort counts in the battle against this virus and the collateral damage that it has caused. We can only hope that other corporations and fortunate families would take Google as an example and help to perpetuate this initiative forward.”
