Walid Ramadan, Cairo Chamber of Commerce Board Member and President of the Economic Council for Youth Business, has announced the launch of a coronavirus (COVID-19) testing initiative for the chamber’s members.
The initiative, which extends to families of Cairo Chamber of Commerce members, is designed as an early detection method for the coronavirus (COVID-19), and will be provided at a discounted cost.
Ramadan said the initiative aims to check chamber members and their families and provide an initial diagnosis of infection with the virus, in cooperation with a specialised laboratory.
He said that the cost of these tests is EGP 880, but that the chamber’s 4.5 million members will receive an EGP 200 discount.
Minister of Health Hala Zayed said on Monday that there is a worldwide anticipation of an effective treatment for the coronavirus. The emergence of a vaccine for the virus will go a long way to solving the crisis.
Zayed noted that Egyptian authorities view a partial curfew as better than a total shutdown, and that the state is currently moving towards a gradual re-opening of the country under certain controls. These include the requirement to wear face masks, undertake regular hand washing, and practice social distancing.
