The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities revealed on Tuesday that 14 hotels in Marsa Alam received about 10,400 Egyptian repatriates during the period between 3 April and 27 May.
Several Marsa Alam hotels have been set aside for repatriated Egyptians who have undertaken their 14-day quarantine periods at the hotels.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Khaled El-Anany, met with a Marsa Alam hotel manager who opened his hotel doors to returning Egyptians. El-Anany thanked him for the efforts and prominent role that he and his team played in providing the repatriated citizens with the necessary comforts throughout their period of quarantine.
El-Anany also met with Tarek Shalabi, Chairperson of the Tourism Investors Association in Marsa Alam. During the meeting, the two discussed many topics, foremost of which were cooperation methods to press forward the tourism sector and maximise hotel energy in the city.
El-Anany and Shalabi also discussed employee training at Marsa Alam hotels to raise employee and hotel efficiency. This comes in addition to the speedy completion of sterilisation and disinfection work that is currently taking place at hotels. The efforts are to ensure that hotels are ready to receive inbound tourism again from July.
