Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi discussed with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday, ways of boosting bilateral relations, according to a statement by presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady.
The telephone discussions between the two leaders focused particularly on the economic and industrial sectors.
During the phone call, both leaders asserted the importance of Egyptian efforts to attract foreign investments, including for ongoing major national projects.
The two leaders also discussed ways to promote Egyptian-Canadian cooperation in education to ensure Egyptian universities benefit from Canadian educational systems.
The call also reviewed the efforts made by both countries in addressing the economic, social and health repercussions of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Al-Sisi and Trudeau agreed to enhance cooperation, and exchange experiences of both countries in combating the pandemic, Rady added.
The meeting also tackled number of regional issues of mutual interest, including efforts to combat terrorism and extremist ideology, as well as illegal immigration. The two leaders also discussed ways to enhance coordination between Egypt and Canada at international forums, to promote international peace and security.
