The Egyptian government will bring forward the disbursement of public sector salaries for July, August, and September, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced on Thursday.
He explained that employees of different ministries, agencies, and bodies will be divided into three days to receive their salaries through ATM machines on the new dates announced.
For July, salaries of workers in 35 ministries and bodies will be available on 20 July, other workers in 21 ministries and bodies will be paid on 21 July, and the rest 9 ministries and agencies on 22 July.
As for August, workers in 35 ministries and bodies will receive their salaries on 23 August, followed by 21 ministries and bodies on 24 August, and then 9 ministries and agencies on 25 August.
The September salaries will be available for workers in 35 ministries and bodies on 22 September, followed by 21 ministries and bodies on 23 September, and then 9 ministries and agencies on 24 September.
Maait noted that other non-salary dues will be disbursed to public sector employees on 8, 9, and 12 July; 9, 10, and 11 August; and 8, 9, and 10 September.
He called on the administrative authorities to notify their employees of the new dates of salary disbursement to avoid crowding on ATMs.
He pointed out that the new salary disbursement dates take into account the number of employees of every ministry and affiliated directorates in governorates. The ministries of health and interior have been given the top priority, in appreciation of their roles in combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
